SUPERSEDING A PART NUMBER

Select Inventory Management (option # 20 from the main menu).

Select Inventory File Maintenance (option # 30 from the inventory management menu).

Select Supersede, Synonym, NLA, etc. (options # 40 from the inventory file maintenance menu).

Type 1 <Enter> to be prompted for the supersedure information.

Type the manufacturer code followed by a comma then the part number, i.e. BS,280104S

SUPERSEDED BY : >

Type the manufacturer code followed by a comma then the part number, i.e. BS,693059. You don’t have to type the manufacturer code if it is the same as the number being superseded.

CAN WE SHIP THE OLD NUMBER FOR THE NEW ONE?

Answering “Yes” to this question causes the information to appear on Order Recommendation reports. For instance if you need to order a part that is superseding from a part that has inventory on hand then the report would show the on hand quantity of the old number.
